I had a blast capturing Melissa + Scott’s amazing outdoor wedding in Palm Springs CA! Music by Joel VanZ Most of all the music I make is inspired by the outdoors. Weather it’s the huge redwoods, the vast ocean, or just something as small and simple as a stream of water, I am inspired to create music that reminds me of these things. The Story is a song inspired by trees. Trees have always intrigued me because of their endurance. It’s interesting to think that each tree has it’s own story. Many have been around for generations, sitting peacefully and patiently as the world changes. Each tree has it’s own story just as each of us have our own life stories. I’m excited to use this song in an upcoming wedding movie to.. well… tell another story. Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. With so much to do and so much to see it’s almost impossible to get tired of this place. My first trip to Cabo was in December of 2011 and the weather couldn’t have been better. One thing I love about Cabo is that the weather is never cold no matter what time of the year it is. In December it was 75-85 degrees. One of the most exciting experiences of my life was about 50 miles out to sea trolling for tuna fish. I was a rookie when it came to fishing so I didn’t really know what to expect. Although my good friend Kasem said “You know the fish you’re looking for are big when the size of your bait is bigger than the biggest fish you’ve ever caught in your life.” Haha it was true this wasn’t pond fishing! Five hours into the trip, we’d caught nothing and I was more sea sick than I’d been since I was five years old. As all six of us on the boat were drifting off to sleep, all four lines went off in a matter of seconds. It was chaos and we were all running around like crazy trying to uncross our lines and begin reeling! I fought this 85 pound tuna fish for 45 minutes and have never been so tired in my entire life. I finally won the battle! We caught nine of these tuna fish and could barely fit them all in the boat! This was my favorite part of my trip down to Cabo and I can’t wait to go back!

If you like the sun, the sand and swim up to Bars, Cabo might be your next perfect outdoor place to visit! no comments There is nothing like the outdoors. And today I had to share some thoughts and images from a place that is very special to me, Truckee CA. Ever since I was two my family took me to a log cabin in central Truckee. This cabin became like a second home to me and my sister and I always looked forward to the yearly trip. Even now I look forward to visiting Truckee, where I feel an inner calm and peace I’ve never experienced elsewhere. This year we drove up in the classic 1984 Toyota pick up that my dad bought brand new in ’84! We arrived a day before the storm and woke up to this winter wonderland…

There’s so much to do when visiting Truckee. It’s just minutes away from some of the best ski resorts in California. (Squaw Valley, NorthStar, and my personal favorite Homewood) Downtown Truckee is filled with one of a kind shops and restaurants. Truckee CA, I love you. no comments I had a great time connecting with Karen and Nate of Nipomo CA last week! They are such an easy going couple. We headed into the beautiful Montano De Oro forest in Los Osos CA to learn about their story. no comments |
